♦HM Amit Shah inaugurates the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)in New Delhi
- The Union Minister for Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Joint Exercise on Urban Earthquake Search & Rescue (SCOJtEx)-2019 in New Delhi, today.
- The Exercise is being organized by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from November 4-7, 2019. The exercise is the outcome of 9th Meeting of the Heads of Government Departments of SCO countries dealing with the prevention and elimination of emergency situations in Kyrgyzstan during 2017, in which India offered to organize the next Annual Disaster Management Exercise for the region.
♦Women Help Desks, More Anti-human Trafficking Units to be Set Up Using Nirbhaya Fund
- Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said that women help desks will be set up in police stations across the country and more anti-human trafficking units established in all districts using the Nirbhaya fund.
- The Nirbhaya Fund was announced by the Centre in 2013 Its aim was to support initiatives of the government and the NGOs working towards the safety of women.
- On October 22, the Empowered Committee (EC) under Nirbhaya framework, chaired by WCD Secretary Rabindra Panwar had favourably appraised two proposals to develop systems for operationalisation of Women Help Desks (WHDs) in police stations.
- Aim: Anti-Human-Trafficking-Units (AHTUs) to all districts and identified officers for dealing with crime and policing matters pertaining to women and children at district and state/ UT levels across the country.

♦India’s economy to grow 6.6% in 2020-24: OECD
- India’s gross domestic product (GDP) could grow 6.6% in 2020-24, lower than its 2013-17 average of 7.4%, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
- “India is also anticipated to grow relatively more modestly in 2020-24 than in 2013-17 while the banking sector regains its footing,” it said in its Economic Outlook for Southeast Asia, China and India 2020 presented at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Bangkok.

♦IndusInd Bank appointed Sumant Kathpalia as new MD & CEO
- Sumant Kathpalia has been chosen as a MD and CEO by private sector lender IndusInd Bank as the successor to Romesh Sobti.
- Kathpalia is the head of consumer loans at the Hindujas-promoted lender and his name has been forwarded to the Reserve Bank for approval.Sobti, who has been at the helm for over a decade, will be retiring in March 2020 after hitting 70.

♦Documentary on Real Kashmir FC bags ‘BAFTA Scotland’ Awards 2019
- A documentary on the football side Real Kashmir FC has bagged the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) Scotland Awards 2019 at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow, Scotland.
- About Documentary: The documentary narrates the journey of former Rangers ace David Robertson as the coach of Real Kashmir FC, which in its first season finished third in the I-League, which is currently India’s second tier football league.

♦Novak Djokovic won Rolex Paris Masters
- Novak Djokovic will head to the Nitto ATP Finals in striking distance in the battle for year-end No. 1. The Serbian won his 34th ATP Masters 1000 title on 3rd November, beating #NextGenATP Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4 at the Rolex Paris Masters.
♦Lakshya Sen won SaarLorlux Open title
- India’s Lakshya Sen bagged his second successive BWF World Tour Super 100 title with a thrilling win over China’s Weng Hong Yang in an exciting final at the SaarLorLux Open here on 3rd
- Lakshya, seeded eighth, needed 59 minutes to overcome Weng 17-21 21-18 21-16 in the summit clash for his third successive singles title of the season.
♦World Wrestling C’ships: Pooja wins silver
- Wrestler Pooja Gehlot (53kg) claimed India’s second silver medal after going down to Japan’s 2017 world champion Haruna Okuno in the finals of the UWW Under-23 World Championships.
- Gehlot lost 0-2 to Okuno in the summit clash to emulate Ravinder (61kg), who also won a silver earlier this week.
