Logistics Performance Index 2022 released
- Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Gujarat are among the 15 states and UTs categorized as achievers in the logistics index chart 2022, according to a report released by the commerce and Industry Ministry.
- The report has been released by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
- Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Puducherry, Sikkim, and Tripura are the other states categorized as fast movers in the ranking.
- The 15 states and UTs ranked in the aspirers’ category include Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Mizoram.
Shiv Nadar most generous person in India: Hurun report
- HCL founder Shiv Nadar has named as the most generous person in the country with an annual donation of Rs 1,161 crore, according to EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022
- Nadar, 77, has reclaimed the ‘India’s most generous’ title with a donation of Rs 3 crore per day.
- Wipro’s Azim Premji, 77, slipped to the second position with an annual donation of Rs 484 crore after ruling at the top position for the last two consecutive years.
- India’s richest man Gautam Adani, 60, ranked seventh with a donation of Rs 190 crore.
- In India a total of 15 individuals made an annual donation of over Rs 100 crore, 20 donated over Rs 50 crore and 43 over Rs 20 crore.
- With a donation of Rs 120 crore, Rohini Nilekani is the most generous woman philanthropist in the country.
- A M Naik, 80, group chairman of Larsen and Toubro, who donated Rs 142 crore, is the country’s most generous professional manager.
- Nithin Kamath and Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha increased their donation by 300 percent to Rs 100 crore.
- Infosys’s Nandan Nilekani, Kris Gopalakrishnan, and S D Shibulal donated Rs 159 crore, Rs 90 crore and Rs 35 crore, ranking 9th, 16th and 28th.

Forbes has released the 36th annual World’s Billionaires List 2022, which is topped by Elon Musk with net worth of $219 billion (the Tesla and SpaceX founder) followed by Jeff Bezos ($171 B), Bernard Arnault & family ($158 B), Bill Gates.
Among Indians, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) ($90.7 billion) has been placed on 10th position, followed by Gautam Adani ($90 billion) in 11th position. Ambani has topped the Forbes list of India’s 10 Richest Billionaires 2022.
World’s Richest Woman 2022: Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, cosmetics giant L’Oréal’s founder’s granddaughter, was listed as the richest woman in the world this year – with a net worth of $74.8 billion.
Savitri Jindal, the chairperson of the Jindal Group, is the richest woman in India, according to the Forbes’ Billionaires List 2022, with a net worth of $17.7 billion.

- Gujarat has retained its position as the top performer among 21 states in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2021 index followed by Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nādu.
- LEADS 2021 report has been prepared by a team of Transport & Logistics professionals at Ernst & Young LLP with guidance and inputs from officials of the Department of Logistics, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
- LEADS 2021 is the 3rd edition of the LEADS report (1st -2018; 2nd – 2019).

NITI Aayog’s Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) 2021: Bihar, Jharkhand, UP poorest states in India
- Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Meghalaya have emerged as the poorest states in India, according to NITI Aayog’s Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).
- India’s first ever national MPI measure is based on the reference period of 2015-16 of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS). Multidimensional Poverty Index measure has been constructed by utilising 12 key components which cover areas such as health and nutrition, education and standard of living.
- According to the report, India’s national MPI measure uses the globally accepted and robust methodology developed by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Kantar’s BrandZ India report 2021: Amazon, Asian Paints, Tata Tea topped India’s Most Purposeful Brand Rankings
- According toKantar’s BrandZ India 2021 report, Amazon, Tata Tea and Asian Paints emerged as the most purposeful brands in India across technology, FMCG and in non-FMCG categories respectively.
- In technology ranking Amazonleads the index followed by Zomato, YouTube, and Google and Swiggy jointly in 4th place.
- While Asian Paintstopped the non-FMCG rankings, Samsung and Jio ranked jointly in the 2nd position, followed by MRF. The FMCG category rankings saw Tata Tea topping the chart, Surf Excel in 2nd

Swachh Survekshan 2021 Ranking: Indore is the cleanest city, Chhattisgarh is cleanest state
Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has released the Swachh Survekshan 2021 Result. President Ram Nath Kovind has announced the Cities names and honored the municipal corporations working under the Swachhta Mission (Cleanliness Mission). In the 2021 edition of Swachh Survekshan, 4320 cities of the country participated. In this survey, 342 cities have got star ratings for cleanliness (Swachh).
- Indore city has been declared the cleanest city of India for the 5th time in a row. While Surat (Gujarat) has been ranked second and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) has been ranked third in ‘more than 1 lakh population’ category.
- Vita, Lonavala, and Sasvad, cities from Maharashtra bagged the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively in the India’s cleanest cities under ‘less than 1 lakh population’ category.
- Chhattisgarh retained the first position in the state
- Varanasi, has been adjudged the “cleanest Ganga town” while Bihar’s Munger and Patna have been ranked second and third in the category.
- Maharashtra bagged the highest number of awards i.e. a total of 92 awards, followed by Chhattisgarh with 67 awards.
- Star rating system: A total of 9 cities – Indore, Surat, New Delhi Municipal Council, Navi Mumbai, Ambikapur, Mysuru, Noida, Vijayawada and Patan- have been certified as 5 star cities while 143 cities have been certified as 3 star.
- Cleanest State (with more than 100 urban local bodies): Chhattisgarh
- Cleanest State (with less than 100 urban local bodies): Jharkhand
- Cleanest City (with less than one lakh population): Vita city of Maharashtra
- Cleanest small city (1-3 lakh population): New Delhi Municipal Council

State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2020: Karnataka topped
Karnataka ranked 1st in the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2020 with a score of 70 out of 100 and is included in ‘Front runner’ category.
Karnataka is followed by Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. Under SEEI 2020, each state/UT has been classified as a Front runner, Achiever, Contender, and Aspirant based on their scores.
SEEI is released by the Ministry of Power and assesses the states in four categories using 68 qualitative, quantitative, and outcome-based indicators aggregating to a maximum score of 100 across six sectors. The State Energy Efficiency Index 2020 was developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE).

Public Affairs Index (PAI 2021): Kerala topped in governance performance
According to the 6th edition of Public Affairs Index (PAI 2021) report by the Public Affairs Centre (PAC), a Bengaluru- based non-profit think tank, the top three slots have been taken by Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana among 18 large states.
Public Affairs Index (PAI 2021) ranks the states and Union Territories based on three pillars of equity, growth and sustainability along with 5 themes, 14 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 43 indicators.

Kerala, Goa Best Governed States, UP Ranks Lowest: PAC ranking
- Kerala was adjudged the best governed state in the country while Uttar Pradesh ended at the bottom in the large states category, according to the Public Affairs Index-2020 released by the Public Affairs Centre.
- Governance performance is analysed in the context of sustainable development defined by three pillars of equity, growth and sustainability.
Large state category
- Four southern states, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka stood in the first four ranks in terms of governance.
- Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Bihar were at the bottom of the ranking, scoring negative points in the category.
In the small state category
- Goa ranked first, followed by Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh.
- Worst performers who scored negative points are Manipur, Delhi and Uttarakhand, according to the PAC report.
Union territory in the category
- Chandigarh emerged the best governed union territory in the category of UTs, followed by Puducherry and Lakshadweep.
- Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Andaman, Jammu and Kashmir and Nicobar were the least performers.
