SBI PO 2025 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The State Bank of India (SBI) is a multinational public sector bank and the largest financial institution in our country. SBI offers numerous opportunities to young graduates and experienced professionals for an accelerated career in India’s No. 1 bank as an SBI Probationary Officer (PO).
Every year, SBI releases notifications for the recruitment of Probationary Officers. This time SBI released 600 vacancies.
SBI PO Exam Pattern
Phase-I: Preliminary Examination: Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Test for 100 marks will be conducted online. The test will have of 3 Sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Phase-II: Main Examination: The Main Examination will be conducted online and will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after conclusion of the Objective Test and candidates will have to type their Descriptive Test answers on the computer
(i) Objective Test: The duration of objective test is 3 hours, and it consists of 4 Sections of total 200 marks. There will be separate timing forevery section.

(ii) Descriptive Paper

SECTIONAL CUT OFF / MINIMUM QUALIFYING MARKS IN MAIN EXAMINATION:
- Each candidate will have to score a minimum score in each test (i.e. Test I, II, III, IV & Descriptive paper individually) in Main Examination.
- Depending on the number of vacancies available, cut offs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for Phase III.
Phase-III: Comprise of
(a) PSYCHOMETRIC TEST
(b) GROUP EXERCISE
(c) PERSONAL INTERVIEW
FINAL SELECTION: The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. The marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in Phase-III for preparing the final merit list

The descriptive section of SBI PO Mains is as follows:

SBI PO Syllabus
The syllabus for SBI PO preliminary exam and mains exam is different as they are two different levels of SBI PO Exam. SBI PO Mains exam has 2 additional sections to be prepared – Computer Aptitude and General Awareness apart from the basic three sections of Quants, Reasoning & english Language. - Before the Mains exam, give more time to cover the last 6 months’ current affairs portion as it will give you a lead in the exam.
- Static GK is no longer the important part (hardly 1-2 question comes) of SBI PO.
