 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Denouement (noun)

Meaning: the final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved. (उपसंहार)

Synonyms: final act, climax, epilogue

Antonyms: beginning, start

Sentence: The film’s denouement was unsatisfying and ambiguous.

  1. Apathy (noun)

Meaning: lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. (उदासीनता)

Synonyms: unconcern, lack of enthusiasm, lack of interest

Antonyms: enthusiasm, interest, passion

  1. Herald (verb)

Meaning: be a sign that (something) is about to happen. (सूचना देना)

Meaning: form an opinion or supposition about (something) on the basis of incomplete information. (अनुमान)

  1. Clout (verb)

Meaning: hit hard with the hand or a hard object. (ताकत)

Synonyms: hit, strike, punch

Sentence: I clouted him on the head.

  1. Amalgamate (verb)

Meaning: combine or unite to form one organization or structure. (मिलाना)

Synonyms: combine, merge, unite

Antonyms: separate, unmix, detach

Sentence: He amalgamated his company with another.

  1. Debacle (noun)

Meaning: a sudden and ignominious failure; a fiasco. (पराजय)

Synonyms: fiasco, failure, catastrophe

Antonyms: success, winner

Sentence: The economic debacle that became known as the Great Depression.

  1. Agonize (verb)

Meaning: undergo great mental anguish through worrying about something. (तड़पना)

  1. Perturb (verb)

Meaning: make (someone) anxious or unsettled. (घबड़ा देना)

Synonyms: anxious, trouble, nervous

Antonyms: calm, compose, quiet

  1. Capricious (adj.)

Meaning: given to sudden and unaccountable changes of mood or behavior. (मनमौजी)

Synonyms: fickle, inconstant, changeable

Antonyms: constant, unchangeable, stationary

Sentence: It’s terrible to feel our livelihood hinges on a capricious boss.
