SSC MTS 2019 : Exam Pattern and Syllabus
SSC MTS Exam Pattern
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the MTS every year for various posts.
The written exam will consist of two papers i.e.: As per the scheme of the SSC MTS examination, there shall be two papers viz. Paper – I and Paper – II.
The examination will consist of a Computer Based Examination (Paper-I) and a Descriptive Paper (Paper-II).
Paper- I will be entirely objective while Paper- II will be descriptive in nature.
Paper – II will be comprised of a Short Essay/ Letter to be written in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.
Paper- II is simply qualifying in nature. It is intended to test the elementary language skills of the candidates to be suitable for the post.
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the examination will be required to appear for a descriptive type qualifying paper for testing basic language skills. The date of descriptive paper will be intimated in due course.

- Paper-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-II, III & IV.
- Each question carries 1 marks
- The questions will be set both in English & Hindi.
- There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- The timing for Visually handicapped cerebral palsy candidates is 90 Mins.
- Marks scored by candidates in Paper-I will be normalized by using the formula published by the Commission through Notice No: 1-1/2018-P&P-I dated 07-02-2019 and such normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
SSC MTS Exam Pattern: Paper-II (Descriptive):
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Paper 1 will be required to appear for a descriptive type qualifying paper for testing basic language skills. The date of descriptive paper will be intimated in due course.

Some important points about the exam:
- Paper- II will be descriptive in nature.

- This exam is qualifying in nature.
- It is intended to test the elementary language skills of the candidates to be suitable for the post.
SSC MTS Syllabus 2019 for Paper I & Paper II
Staff Selection Commission conducts the recruitment for SSC MTS 2019-20 for Group C central government employees in various departments of the government. In this article, we will discuss about the SSC MTS Syllabus 2019-20 as per the previous year pattern.
The Paper 1 consists of a total of 100 multiple choice questions of subjects namely: General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English, and General Awareness. Here is the detailed SSC MTS Syllabus subject wise:

The SSC MTS exam will include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

Candidates’ understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. and writing ability would be tested.

SSC MTS Syllabus: General Awareness
Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
